The Shell Legacy Foundation
Gap Funding for HBCU Students
We provide critical financial support to help students cover tuition gaps, ensuring they can stay enrolled, complete their education, and graduate with confidence.
College Supplies & Essentials
We offer emergency assistance for everyday needs—such as clothing, hygiene products, and academic supplies—so students can focus on their education without added stress.
K–8 Literacy Program
We invest in literacy initiatives within under-resourced schools by funding modern learning tools and supporting teacher development to improve student outcomes.
Youth Sports Program
We support youth sports by funding equipment, facilities, and coaching, creating safe and inclusive environments where young people can build confidence, discipline, and teamwork.

At the Shell Legacy Foundation, we believe that when you invest early and intentionally, you change the trajectory of a life. Supporting students, strengthening literacy, and creating access to youth sports doesn’t just impact individuals—it uplifts families, schools, and entire communities.
Our Story
Originally founded as the Donnie Shell Scholarship Foundation, the organization rebranded to the Shell Legacy Foundation to reflect a broader commitment to long-term impact in education, literacy, and youth development.
Our Approach

The Shell Foundation
The Shell Foundation was established to help bridge the financial gap for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Through scholarships and support programs, the foundation is committed to expanding access to higher education for high-potential students.
We strive to empower dedicated students from diverse economic backgrounds—many of whom lack the financial resources to pursue college and fully realize their potential. By partnering with HBCUs, The Shell Foundation provides scholarships and financial assistance to help remove these barriers and create pathways to success.
Inspired by personal experience, our mission is rooted in the belief that no student should be denied an education due to financial hardship. We are dedicated to uplifting the next generation by investing in their academic, athletic, and personal growth.
